2021.12.03 19:13 That_Nonstop_Reader Switching SD Cards, and weird folders

I have a Samsun Galaxy A71, and have an SD card in it to give it a storage boost. I recently bought a new SD card with a larger storage and want to swap it for the old one. If I want to move everything on the old card to the new one, can I just copy all the data from the old card to m laptop and then paste it into the new card? Will my phone still be able to find everything when I put the new card in?
Also, on the old card, there are 1496 folders, all named with something starting with .16..... and then a string of numbers
E.g. .1620848664968 and .1621460270866 and .1621598598723
These folders all show up as empty when I go into them on my laptop, and they don't show up at all when I go to My Files on my phone. Is it safe to delete them?

First wanted to say thanks to this community in general, I've learned so many important lessons already and am hoping for any input you have on the current crisis I'm going through. I live in New Zealand so any country-specific info would be helpful.
Medical background: I had an accident in late April and suffered a concussion. I've been off work ever since (just over 7 months now) for two reasons: a) concussion symptoms (headaches, problems with memory, focus, and retention) are complex and there is no prescribed rehabilitation path, b) the ACC program (governmental health coverage for accidents) has been very slow in approving first my assessments and then my rehabilitation program with various specialists (neurologist, occupational therapists, physio, psychologist, etc.). I 100% believe that I would have already made a complete recovery if I had received assessments and treatments in a timely fashion. My current medical certificate has me unfit for work until late February. Due to the nature of the illness, I frequently see my Dr and have had many extensions of my medical leave. The first estimate on my length of absence was 2-3 weeks, so I understand that it's been confusing/frustrating for my employer to have my medical leave extended each time.
Work background: I am full-time, permanently employed. My relationship with my managers is superficially good, there have been previous tensions though which make me wonder if they would prefer hiring someone else.
Due to the length of my absence, my employer has notified me yesterday that a consultation process is being continued, with the possible outcome of termination based on medical grounds. The process was first initiated in September, but back then they just asked for a letter from my GP to let them know when I would be expected to return. My GP unfortunately wrote in their letter that they'd expect me to be back part-time in "a few months". A few months have passed and my latest medical certificate further extended my leave until February, which would make my absence total 10 months.
My employer states that due to the length of my absence, their uncertainty whether I will make a full recovery, and their pressing need to fill my role, a consultation process is necessary.
I have evidence from specialists' reports to confirm that I am expected to make a full recovery. I hadn't shared it with my employer previously, which is obviously my fault. I am an immigrant in this country and wasn't aware how much of my private medical history I was supposed to share with my employer and thought that as long as I have medical certificates from my Dr that all would be fine.
While my neurologist states that a full recovery will likely be within 6-12 months from the date of accident (aka maximum until end of April 2022), no Dr can exactly state how long/short my absence will be. Hence why my employer states to be frustrated and unable to plan for a replacement.
I am to meet with my employer and an external HR rep next week to "discuss my options". I have contacted a lawyer but have yet to receive their advice on my situation.
The way I see it, I have two options, both with their pros and cons:

  1. Termination (if legal). Biggest pro is that I would be entitled to some form of government assistance and could continue with my rehabilitation. Biggest con is the obvious financial insecurity (esp. as the breadwinner of my family) and the possible negative "look" of having been fired and having to discuss that in an interview. Also, the obvious stress of unemployment and having to 100% start in the new job, rather than a gradual return to work as proposed in my current rehabilitation plan.
  2. Bargain to be allowed to stay (if legal). E.g. state that I'd be willing to return to work before my current medical certificate ends. May be able to bargain for a gradual return to work. Obvious pro is financial security, job stability (job pays above average for type of work I'm doing and allows me to work from home which is very beneficial given that I also study part-time). Biggest con is the possible negative effect on my health. Not sure if I'd still be entitled to treatment if I go back to work since I'd have to state that I'm fit. So could potentially lose free access to specialist treatment, which I couldn't afford otherwise.
I don't know if my employer would be open to option 2. I'm just trying to prepare for the meeting and, in general, do believe that trying to retain my position would be most beneficial for the sake of financial security that I can't afford to be without right now. I don't know how much leeway I have aka how much longer my employer would be willing to keep the position open for me. Also unsure of legal precedents.
If you have any advice or pointers on how to behave, I'd really appreciate it. This is obviously a very stressful situation and I have fears that I'm not even in good enough a mental state to be able to deal with this clearly and rationally.

I get it. There are bots out the ass here. It's person after person sharing horror stories of the working world. I am proud of this community. I haven't been here long, but thank you for helping show me and others that it isn't just our personal circumstances, but the North American system that needs to change. The world isn't sun shine and roses, but we should still expect to be treated like human beings whether that's by another person or a corporation. Wouldn't it be amazing if a CEO could realize that maybe if they had a little less we could all live that little bit better. And to you corporations that actually care about your employees, you're what we fight for.
